WOWZAAA

Would you agree that choker necklaces are very small, specially the vintage ones?  Well I don't have the smallest neck out there but I find them to be uncomfortable.  I have always admired a choker and have seen many in my travels to yard sales, rummage sales and such and always pass them up.
A few years ago I found this vintage beauty at our town wide yard sale, I just had to have it if it wasn't just to take it out and look at it every now and again.  Now this is bling at it's finest.

For awhile now I have been seeing necklaces made with ribbon, actually I have one.  I have had this ribbon necklace for a few years now, black ribbon and pink round balls.  FINALLY it dawned on me, why don't I do the same with this choker so I can wear the darn thing.  Sometimes I can be slow...

I love, love my necklace, I wore it to work the other day.
Who doesn't love some fantastic vintage bling.

PEOPLE ARE FISHING AROUND HERE

There is a lot of fishing being done around here lately, (Lake Champlain Islands)
Here is Mr. Nook all dressed up for the elements, it gets cold out there.

You can find shanties for rent around here, someone posted their rental sign on a phone pole.

Some drive their vehicles right on the ice then set up their shanties and their gear for the day.

A few weekends ago there was an annual ice fishing derby.  People that enter their fish in the contest have them hanging on boards at different places (stores) these are weighted and tagged.  These are Northern Pike, pretty good hah?

Some areas turn into little villages where many gather in one spot.  Must be fish are in this area otherwise these people would not be here.

Warm weather will be here soon and the ice fishing will be over for yet another year.
Have you ever gone ice fishing?

A FEW PLANS FOR EASTER CREATIONS

I have been gathering my thoughts on what I want to create for our upcoming Easter Holiday.
Of course I find a lot of inspiration from Pinterest.
I will be creating most of the following projects for my Lil granddaughter, Lil O.

I really like this idea.

These are so darling.

I am sorry, I can't find where I found this.  When and if I do I will give credit ASAP
I thought I could put the bunnies and the peets in an egg like this, but bigger would be my plan.

I have purchased the felt for the projects and I think I will try to stitch them using the pink/lavender sparkly yarn, will look great I think.

What are your plans for some Easter creations?

WHAT IS ON YOUR WORK TABLE

I wanted to share with you what is on my work table as of late.
I was going through some boxes and found me some folders that had some very antique pages from some very sorry books I purchased at our local auction house a few years back.
These are images from a Harper's New Monthly Magazine book dated 1856, YUP I said 1856.  Let me do some quick math for you, 157 years old.

Last weekend I rode to the dump with Mr. Nook, I do this sometimes.
A table was set up outside the attendants office and low and behold were all of these.  All new and in the boxes still.  Thought I would help myself to a few.

More images from the book.  I am in the planning stages of creating tags, theme "Antique"  I am excited about my project and will be offering them for sale when ready.
I will keep you updated.

What is on your work table as of late?

PHOTOS FROM AROUND THE STUDIO

I thought I would share some shots from around my studio with you today.
Here are some very old spines from some books I purchased a few years back from our local auction house.
I am in the process of creating more tags, theme "Antique" and will be using some of these.  Stay tuned for more on that soon.

My best friend gifted me the Willow piece you see and the tiny pink dried roses are from my granddaughters blessing party, you can see that post here.

I purchased this paper weight at a yard sale, adorable don't you think?

My Figgy, her senior year in high school, boy that was a few moons ago.

LOTS OF ICE

We live on the Richelieu passage on Lake Champlain.
A week or so ago the passage was frozen all the way across, this is what the wind will do to the ice all in one afternoon.

These were clear pieces of ice, amazing hah?

This piled up a few hundred yards from our home.

Before to long it was frozen again!
The miracle of nature.

RANDOM HOUSE ITEMS

I thought I would share some random items around the house.
I purchased this vintage phone several years ago for $10.  It did work for awhile.

I do love a ball jar and have been known to put many different things in them, like this one.

I love bird nests and have several of them.  A few here in a bread bowl with some little brown bottles that were found on my lake shore.

A rusty lantern and a wolf made of wood.

Vintage wooden service tray.
