As I was saying "HOW WOULD YOU LIKE ONE OF THESE BUILT FOR YOU??"

Let me give you a quick history on this; back in 1900 or a few years earlier Mr. Boldt built this castle for his beloved wife. 1 1/2 years before completion she died. This castle is built on an island in the 1000 islands area in upstate New York. Mr. Boldt named this island Heart Island. The Bridge Authority has spent several years trying to restore this castle but will admit that it will never be completed (if Mr. Boldt couldn't complete it then it should not be completed).In many places one will find hearts carved in the stones or flower gardens in the shape of hearts. Trim inside the castle has lots of hearts. The island itself was carved in the shape of a heart. He must have really loved his wife and was quite the romantic..... This was to be the play house for his two children.

Available are plans of Mr. Boldt on the castle, this would of been the Mrs. suite.

This castle has 365 rooms, a room for every day of the year, this is what he wanted for his wife.

I would not want to sweep these floors, would you?

Is this Victorian or what, so beautiful.

I so love the doors.

I so hope you enjoyed the tour of this castle.

I could not stop thinking about this place for two whole days, I was so lost for words.

ANNIVERSARY TRIP AND A CASTLE

I would love to share some pictures from our trip to The 1000 Islands.

We arrived in Alexandria New York at about 4:00 pm on Thursday afternoon. We checked into Captain Thompson's Resort.

We had our Anniversary dinner at a very quaint restaurant.

We love a good cup of coffee and we enjoy looking around quaint little shops, one never knows what may be hiding in these places.

Since this is a place of 1000 islands we decided to go have a look for ourselves.

Here are just a few of the places we saw on our tour, of course there are many million dollar homes, these places although beautiful I will not bore you with them. Here are a few that we could relate to.

I so loved it when a very large ship went by every so often. Another boat tour.

Mr. Nook loves the boat museums and just about anything to do with boats. I loved the vintage era of the poster and the water skies.

This bag was hanging on a doorknob in a house boat.

More great boats.

How would you like for your hubby to build you something like this???

This is a castle on Heart Island. Mr Boldt built this for his wife back in 1900.

Just a short post to wish you all a Happy Memorial Weekend.

Mr. Nook and I will be taking a little trip to

1000 Islands over in very upstate New York at the Great Lakes.It is our Anniversary (22 years)

VINTAGE PINK AND PLANTS

Mr Nook and I spent the day (last Sunday) exploring and yard and garage treasure hunting. First though, we went to dinner Saturday evening at our friends house, Mary and Roger's. Mary gave me this ivy plant, thanks again Mary!At one yard sale I purchased this large bottle for $1.00, yup, one dollar. I love this.. This vintage yellow cloth.

The clear colored bottle the lady offered it to me for free, I thanked her very much, love it. The vintage pink child's dress I purchased for $5.00. I will be embellishing this little lovely, stay tuned....

The pink cloth and burlap I purchased at JoAnn's to do a tote bag project, stay tuned as well for this.

Love the very pretty wallpaper boarder.

I look forward to using this in some paper projects.

Actually the wallpaper and the materials do go good together, I will probably use all three in a project, too.

This vintage holiday apron was .25 cents, good price hah?

I think this is a vintage linen towel used to make an apron. I will enjoy this during the holiday.

I was pleased with all of my treasures.

A WEEK OF VIGNETTES #7

Welcome to "A Week of Vignettes" #7

If you have come back to the party, welcome back.

If you are new to the posts let me explain; I've been trying (through all the rain) to get our porch ready for the summer season.

I have posted a vignette each day this week so far. If you would like to see vignette # 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 just click on home at the end of this post where you will see them all at once. This is a round (dining room) table where we eat our meals during the summer months. This table is just by the door that leads into the house.

I love to offer up a vignette on this table, it is a great spot that greats our visitors.

If you are a regular follower to my blog you have seen this area decorated many times, during holidays and such.

Using a vintage minnow bucket I arranged dried flowers (from my friend Barb's garden).

Also tucked in there is an antique beeskep. A canoe made from white birch tree bark holds more pine cones. A black wooden sign that reads "Welcome". A very little birds nest is a beautiful touch don't you think? Did I mention I love to use all things from nature?

The wooden stand was made for Figgy for her wedding in 2006. It still has some of the twigs and fun curly twigs.

It is covered with red lights that look so nice in the dark.

The black game board was handmade for the game aggravation, this game board has been around, dare I say 30 plus years...

A vintage yard stick and a wooden boat look great in there, too. A lot of the things that one may find tucked in here and there, are items that has belonged to family members, I love to have these items around for the happy reminders that they are.

Did I mention I am obsessed with creating vignettes out of everything??
