Welcome to "A Week of Vignettes #5

If you have been following this week, welcome back.

If you are new to the posts then let me tell you; I've been working on getting our summer porch ready for the summer months.

I am obsessed with creating vignettes on nearly every surface there is.

I love bringing the outdoors in with using pine cones, greenery, tree bark, sea glass and many other items. These items are some of my favorite things in life... Using a tin wash bucket I filled it with potting soil and planted some clippings from plants I already had. The greenery toward the back is silk. I added the little resin bird and the rooster. I also added a solar light so it lights up at night as a night light for the porch. If you are interested in seeing more of my vignette obsession stay tuned.

Welcome to "A Week of Vignettes" #4

If you've been following this week, welcome back.

If you are new to the posts let me tell you; I've been busy (between all the rain we've been having) trying to get our screened porch ready for the summer season.

I think I may be compulsive with my areas of vignettes, I love making them.

This one is my favorite.

Sitting on a vintage child's school desk is a white picture frame.

A large pine cone wreath sits on top of the frame.

A piece of tree bark with a hole sits with a bird resting in the hole.

A bird house made from tree bark, pine cones and white birch tree bark. Lastly, my two wooden drawers I purchased when at the World's Largest Yard Sale in Warrensburg New York with my Figgy. You can see that post here.

you can also see last years picture of the porch at these posts.This white wooden basket I purchased last year at JoAnn's on clearance. I lined it and filled with potting soil. I added a terra cota pot with a ivy plant in the soil. I added mini garden tools to the planter. I filled the vintage coffee container with wine corks and added a pillar candle. You will find an antique wooden shoe spreader in the grouping.

A beautiful red bottle for a splash of color, and a brass candle stick holder.

A WEEK OF VIGNETTES #2

This is post #2 of my week of vignettes.

I am in the process of getting our screened in porch ready for the summer months (if it would stop raining I could finish).

Here is my second vignette to share.

The olde chair I have had for several years. I purchased this at our local auction house for $2.00, yup $2.00 bucks.

A large piece of drift wood, a piece of bark with the name of the island we live on. A very large pine cone and a jello mold full of sea (lake) glass. Notice the vintage piece of soda bottle glass?

Figgy and I love to go on the beach and search for glass and treasures. It is time to do this once again, once the lake level goes down some.

All of my treasures are tucked into this large vine basket.

A SNEAK PEEK OF A WEEK OF VIGNETTES

I would like to apologize to those that tried to come for a visit a few days ago and was unable to leave a comment. If you did leave a comment it was probably lost. I hope the Blogger people have things straightened out, MANSAKES!!!

I've been attempting (between cool temperatures and rainy days) to put our screened in porch together for the summer. I so love decorating our porch....

This is our porch, a picture from last year. Each year I like to change things up and create new things.

This vignette is one of several I created so far.

If you are a follower of my blog, you may recognize this amber colored bowl, it is the light fixture that was on our very vintage ceiling fan. The fan has sense gone to the dump.

I filled this bowl with some silk greenery, a large piece of white birch bark (I love birch bark), a basket made from tree twigs, pine cones (another favorite of mine) and a yellow bird looking over everything.

I love decorating with items from nature, I think it gives my home a rustic feel.

A MORNING WITH MY FIGGY

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

I am sorry I have not done a post in what seems like forever.

We have been in the middle of an emergency with flooding here on the island we live on. I had not left the island in two solid weeks in fear I would not be able to get back on. In addition to this I was busy at work (town offices) during the emergency situation. The waters have receded some, things are better now.

I was able to go into town to visit my Figgy for Mother's Day. This house is a gift she gave to me.

Figgy knows what mama loves...

We spent a few hours together alone at an antique and craft show. I purchased this photograph of this bear, she is so beautiful, don't you think? I was able to start a little cleaning of the screened in porch. This is my favorite minnow bucket that I decorate for most of the holidays and summer months.

THE BIRDS ARE BUSY

The birds are busy here this time of year. I've been watching a Robin trying to make her nest over a light fixture on the garage. She has been attempting for over a week now, I think she has finally finished. I would take a picture but I can't get to it that well.

The crows/ravens we have around here are very large.

Can you guess what kind of baby bird this is?

I will tell you at end of post.

Beautiful morning dove.

If I were a bird I would probably visit this large motel.

These are two woodpeckers. I have had this photograph for a few years now. I took this picture, framed it and had it in our bedroom for quite a few months. One day I discovered there are two birds in this picture. I was delighted to say the least. I believe he is flirting with her...

BEAUTIFUL nest.

This Robin is busy making her nest. She has found some blue twine that we use to tie up limbs that may break during the winter months. The birds have been using this blue twine for many years now.

Another black bird. These birds have the keenest hearing, it is very difficult to get pictures of them.

I love, love to decorate my home with birds, bird nests and ducks. This wooden duck is actually a Loon. Notice the bird house?? I love to tuck little resin birds into things.
