A FOX AND WEEKLY INDULGENCE

My family was here for a few days this past week.
While driving around the island we spotted this fox, beautiful hah??

We also spotted this.  Mr Nook says we can go back and cut it down (if no one else does before us)
I have two other nests like this.
I just love how they create their nest around branches and even the leaves.

This is my weekly indulgence.
This bouquet was on clearance for $9

I just love this length of vine.  I will try to plant when finished with the bouquet.

Beautiful....
Have you seen a fox lately??
Thanks for stopping by.

HALLOWEEN TAGS, NUTTY CUPS AND A MATCHBOX

I have been very busy creating spooky and whimsy Halloween items.
I created five tags for Art Joy Stuff Halloween Tag Swap

This larger tag is for the swap hostess Kim.
Creating Halloween themed items is so much fun.

 I so love this owl.

This is a matchbox I created for a swap at Vintage Dragonfly

The box is full of fun and whimsical Halloween items.

I had such a blast creating me some Nutty cups.
Two cups created for a swap at Creative Wings
I used some of my dried mini roses on these cups.

The cups are a tad bit small to hold any goodies so I made burlap bags to hold the treat items in.

Do you notice the little wooden mouse on this hat??
 Nutty cup #2

Another burlap bag full of goodies.
This swap had two swap partners.
The nutty cups are nut/candy cups.
Have you created yourself a nutty cup for Halloween?  It is so much fun, go ahead and try one.
Thanks for stopping by.

ISLE LA MOTTE

At work today I found a very old poem about the Island I live on.
You can click here to bring you to the original size photo of the island, it will not disappoint.

ISLE LA MOTTE
A little isle in Lake Champlain that we all love so well,
Where the days so long gone by wild Indian tribes did dwell;
Today their handicraft is found-not trinkets made of bone-
but skinning-knives, and sharp spear-points, and arrow heads of stone.
It was here the British forces from their gunboats tried to land
But were driven off by Yankees with their flintlocks in their hand:
It was here a hundred years ago that Caleb Hill was slain
Upon this little Island near the foot of Lake Champlain.
It was here the British forces sailed one September day
to fight McDonough's fleet which lay in Plattsburgh Bay;
and cannon balls then fired from the old-time British guns
Are still unearthed and brought to light, we find them one by one.
And leaden musket bullets of our one-time British foe
Are sometimes found, though fired a century ago;
Grim souvenirs of long ago when our ancestors fought
To keep the enemy away from dear Isle La Motte.
I love the bays and marshes where the wild ducks are galore
I love its wide sand beaches and its rocky, wooded shore;
And now in my declining years I know no other spot
To which my heart clings with such pleasure as historic Isle La Motte
I have dwelt here half a century, my age is near fourscore,
I feel sure in a short time hence, that I will be no more;
And when I have been called to go, my wish may not be vain,
I want to lie on Isle La Motte, the gem of Lake Champlain.

SPECIAL GIFTS

Can you guess what might be in this wee little pink pillowcase??
My dear friend, Betsy gave me these little treasures.
Look at the wee lil buttons on this dress, can you stand it...
Beautiful lace and stitching on this one.

Betsy told me her mother gave these clothes to her many years ago, they have been tucked away in her attic, she wanted me to have them.  Needless to say I was so thrilled..
 A pink little summer romper.

A blue little summer romper.
 This is darling.

I saved the very best for last.
Can you stand this??
These baby hats are so precious, I can't tell you how ticked I was.
Thanks again Betsy!
I do believe a doll is in order, maybe for a pink rose room..

Do you have a collection of vintage/antique baby items?
Thanks for stopping by.

WEEKLY INDULGENCE, DRYING ROSES & GATHERING OF WHIMSICAL WINTER B-DAY PARTY

Here is my weekly bouquet, my indulgence.
The large orange roses were awesome, but didn't last to long.

I purchased the roses separate for $4 then the others were $7, not to bad for $11
Here I am drying the roses along with the pink roses from the week before.

My grand baby (Lil O) is going to be one in December.
We are planning a large birthday celebration in a lodge in the mountains of New York state.
Her mama (Figgy) is dreaming of a fairy winter wonderland, blues and whites.
I will keep you posted as more time goes by as to our decorating plans.
I will be using the blue glitter on the snowflakes.  I am thinking of white glitter on the pears and apples.

The gold and brown glitter I purchased, I am not sure why yet....

These next two pictures I took at Michael's,  this is what we envision, don't know for sure if we will purchase yet or not.

Of course, I do love birds!!

Have you purchased your bouquet for the week?
Thanks for stopping by.

WEEKLY INDULGENCE

I am a little late in taking pictures of my bouquet of flowers for the week, they are a little droopy :(
For those of you that may be new to my blog, I decided awhile ago that I was going to purchase/indulge in a bouquet of fresh flowers every week..
You can see that post here
This week I choose lilies and pink roses.
I don't usually prefer the larger roses, I love the mini roses more.
The store didn't have any mini's this time around.

And, here is the one single rose in a vintage bottle on my kitchen sink windowsill.
I love this....

Have you treated yourself to a bouquet of flowers this week?  You really should!!
Thanks for stopping by.

MY MR NOOK IS A CAPTAIN

You can officially call my Mr. Nook;  USCG MASTER CAPTAIN, Pete.

Back last fall Mr. Nook studied for many weeks and passed his United States Coast Guard Master Captain course/test.
It took awhile for all credentials to be checked by the Government (you know, those Homeland Security folks)
We got confirmation today, yipeeee
My Mr. Nook has a great passion for boats, fishing and playing and living on the water.
I am proud of my Captain!!
Thanks for stopping by.

SPOOKY TODDLER

I have altered this old cabinet card for my Figgy.
I adhered it to a very antique leather book cover to make my surface a little larger to work with.

I purchased the maple leaf from JoAnn's along with the black spider.
Do you notice her black skirt, precious indeed...

Actually the toddler I think is a little boy, but I say it is a girl for now.
I really am amazed  that the pink tulle goes with the fall colors and the orange of the leaf.
The pink bling thing is a dragonfly I got on clearance at Michael's.
Thanks for stopping by.
