TRICK OR TREAT SWAP

These are my items for the TRICK OR TREAT SWAP hosted by Christine at A WORK IN PROGESS. You can go to see all the other Halloween swaps. This is a copy of an antique photo in my personal collection of children. They are all dressed up for Halloween. I sewed this photo on a table linen and bordered it with more cloth.
I added a cutout of a bird with a witch's hat, some large safety pins, a vintage earring, a grunged clothes pin, an owl and a fox.
This spooky item is made using an very antique book cover. A vintage bingo card, a copy of a photograph of a real relative riding this owl. I love this owl with it's black crown.
The collage is finished off with a piece of old and tattered tablecloth.
The swap requested three items, two treats and one trick. These two items are my treats, now for my trick. The trick is a grunged organzia bag with two Halloween pencils, pipberries, a glitter spider, skull and a ghost made of white tule.
Here is my package I received in the mail for our swap, oh boy, what fun!!
Here is one treat, a tree. This tree actually stands up. It has the word "BOO" on it. It is also embellished with bats and spiders. Here is a trick. This is a box, notice the skelly's eyes are red gemstones?? What is in this box you ask??? One LARGE spider!! This is the next treat. Two hangings made of cloth, scary!!
One skelly and a fence with birds. What is this package. I have my two treats and my one trick, what could this be?? It sure has nice packaging...
A beautiful necklace from Christine, I love this. It is two sided to boot..
This is the second side. Thank you so much Christine. I just love it!!

Well, I am off to go trick or treating now. I have to find out who gave me my treats and my trick.

Go on over to Christine's at A Work In Progress to see what everyone else got for their trick and treats, could be alot of fun.

Happy Halloween Everyone.

Thanks for stopping by.

SHOW AND TELL FRIDAY

Welcome to my "SHOW AND TELL FRIDAY"
I would like to thank Cindy from My Romantic Home for being our host.
Be sure to go see what everyone else has for Show and Tell. I can't wait to go have a look myself.
My post is a tribute along with a show and tell. This picture was made by my Great Aunt Ida many, many years ago. It hangs on my wall in my home now.It is made of cloth that is stuffed where the deer are. Do you notice the fish?? I remember her making this when I was just a little girl, it was a LONG time ago. I think it goes perfectly in our home. Our home is a log cabin. The picture hangs on the same wall as this light fixture. My husband made these lights for me using his fathers snowshoes. (I have a pair of course) In this snowshoe is a fishing basket, in the basket is a sign that also belonged to Aunt Ida, it hung in her camp on Lake Champlain and it reads: WARNING-there is a trap gun in this camp, if you attempt to enter you do so at your own risk. KEEP OUT!! It has her signature on the bottom. Now really, there was no trap gun in the camp but she figured it MAY work if someone was going to break in...... Anyways, I love it and it is now in my home. This was her little piece of heaven on the lake!!
LOVE YOU, AUNT IDA
I hope you enjoyed my show and tell.
Thanks for stopping by.

VINTAGE INSPIRATION FRIDAY

Now lets talk vintage!!
First I must thank Debra at Common Ground for hosting yet another Vintage Inspiration Friday. Please go on over to see what everyone else is up to for some Friday Vintage Inspiration!!
When I went to New York city with my Figgy we went to a few flea markets, most flea markets there are vintage themed, and do I mean vintage.... I am still inspired and this was a few weeks ago.
Check out these vintage license plate cuff bracelets, are you excited??Look at these bracelets. I purchased a vintage watch bracelet from this lady. Fantastic stuff!! This vendor had the most fantastic vintage button pins, look at her work. I love this!!
This vendor had so many people around his booth it was hard to have a look. Is this vintage or what?? Look at what these things are made from. Vintage everything, vintage cameras, little cars, vintage skates, this piece and that piece and more. His art is amazing...
I hope you enjoyed my Friday inspiration post.
What inspires you?
Thanks for stopping by.

PEARLS AND LACE THURSDAY

WORK JOYFULLY AND PEACEFULLY, KNOWING THAT RIGHT THOUGHTS AND RIGHT EFFORTS WILL INEVITABLY BRING ABOUT RIGHT RESULTS
JAMES ALLEN
Welcome to my "Pearls and Lace Thursday" blog party. I would like to thank Doni at Faith, Grace, Crafts for hosting this party. You can also join in her 100th blog post giveaway (you have until midnight tonight) wait until you see what she is giving away!!
I LOVE VINTAGE LACE
I am crazy for vintage lace and trims. I have a very extensive collection (if I do say). I love to shop the rummage sales (best place to find vintage lace and trims) yard sales, flea markets, our local auction house (this is where I have gotten boxes FULL) and more.I also LOVE threads, sewing notions and goodies like that. I also love trims from wedding dresses and prom dresses, etc.
I love vintage rick rack, too.
I create alot of items using my vintage lace and trims. My collection of Toby's Tweets (BIRDS) are all embellished with vintage lace and trims. See this post for more Tweets. I love to make collage items using trims and lace. I stain some of my vintage trims with coffee, tea and dyes, giving them a worn and tattered look. I also love vintage doilys and linens, don't you??
I hope you enjoyed my Pearls and Lace party.
Don't forget to go on over to Faith, Grace, Crafts to see who else likes Pearls and Lace and don't forget about the giveaway there.
Thanks for stopping by.
I forgot to mention I love Pearls, too!!

VINTAGE HALLOWEEN BLOG PARTY

Welcome to my Vintage Halloween Blog Party. This party is hosted by Joan over at "Anything goes here" go on over to see what everyone else has brought to the party. Thanks Joan!! These are some of the Halloween items I have made over the last few weeks. This is a garland made from mostly embellished vintage images from my collection.
You can see more of the garland in this post. Those two little children are so precious, I use that image in alot of items I create.
I added these just because I think they are cute!!
This is a Halloween gift I made and gave to my daughter (Figgy). Using a large vintage copy of a photograph of a family and a vintage photograph frame holder, some vintage lace and an old key, I created this. This collage sits on a plate holder. You can see more details of this collage in this post. Figgy loves Halloween, therefore I so enjoyed making her this collage.
This is a Halloween dress I made. Using a dress form I found on clearance at JoAnn's (I love clearance) I made this dress for the holiday. The inspiration for the dress is the vintage black lace veil. I love vintage lace and trims and use them in most of my art. To see more details on this dress you can visit this post.
I hope you enjoyed my Vintage Halloween Blog Party.
Don't forget to go on over to Anythinggoeshere to see what everyone else is up to.
Thanks for stopping by.

5 X 5 SQUARES HAVE ARRIVED

My much anticipated (five) 5 x 5 Christmas/Winter squares have arrived. I joined in a swap (first swap ever) awhile ago. The rules were; make (five) 5" x 5" squares (themed Christmas/Winter) using anything we wanted. We had a deadline to mail to the person hosting the swap (Jillayne was our sweet host). Once the host received all the squares, she swapped them all up and sent them back out. Each person received five different squares from five different artists. If you want to see the five squares I made you can see it here in this post. In my package was this card and a sweet note from Jillayne along with this fabric heart. I found this beautiful handmade bag with some of the 5 x 5's inside. This bag was made by Jillayne also, isn't it so pretty. What will I keep in my bag??
My first square is a square from our host, Jillayne from A Fine Seam (how luckly was I) Beautiful lace, velvet trims, vintage buttons, bling, and satin trims all weaved to perfection. The pink hues go so well with the antique colors of the vintage lace and trims. Thanks Jillayne!
My next square includes sheet music (my favorite paper item) with kittens, vintage bling , bows, tiny buttons, and beautiful lace. Do you see the tiny, tiny tag that says "Noel"? This is a sweet, sweet square. This square was created by Marie at Spun By Me.
Thank you Marie!!
This next square is of a snowman as you can see. What you can't see is how beautiful this is (the pictures don't do this piece justice. It has handstiching, beautiful snowflakes made with tiny crochet pieces, the hat is hand stitched, the material used is so beautiful. This piece was made by Susan at Suztats, she is so talented. Thank you Susan!!
This next square was made by Tina at One Wild Swan.
It is handpainted, and is surrounded by silver glitter and a silver paper doily. Do you notice the owl up in the tree? The young woman has a sweet face and looks so warm in her hat and long coat. Thank you Tina!!
This square is a bird of fabric. The bird is so wonderful, it has a gemstone for an eye. Earthtones are my colors, indeed. The square is finished off with buttons in each cornor. This is made by Lucille. I would post her website but she doesn't have one (not yet, anyways). Next to my love for sheet music is my love for birds. Thank you Lucille, she is beautiful!!
I want to thank everyone again for my squares, I love each and every one of them. I will be putting them in my studio so I can look at them each and every day.
I enjoyed this swap so much, and would do it again in a minute. I want to thank our host, Jillayne again for hosting the swap, without her none of us would be in possession of our (five) 5 x 5 lovely squares.
Have you joined a swap lately??
Thanks for stopping by.
